Bridges to Biomedicine Application Form

 

 


APPLICATION DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 12, 2016.

Students selected to be in the program will begin attending meetings and training sessions during the Spring 2016 semester, but will start in a research laboratory at Texas State University in June 2016.

 

To be eligible for the program, students must:

  • Be an individual from racial and ethnic groups that have been shown by the National Science Foundation to be underrepresented in health-related sciences on a national basis. The following racial and ethnic groups have been shown to be underrepresented in biomedical research: African Americans, Hispanic Americas, Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, Hawaiian Natives, and natives of the US Pacific Islands. Or, be an individual with disabilities as defined as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. Or, be an individual from a disadvantaged background.
     
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, or a non-citizen national
     
  • Be a full time student in good standing at San Antonio College or Northwest Vista College majoring in a field relevant to biomedical research
     
  • Have an intention to transfer to a university to obtain a bachelor’s degree in a biomedically relevant field
     
  • Possess college ready skills in math and English as demonstrated by testing or completion of all developmental math and English courses
     
  • Currently have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
